Sylvia Fowles
Sylvia Fowles was named an honorary selection for the WNBA All Star Game. She is currently finishing her final season with the league. Her averages are 14.9 points and 9.2 rebounds. She also has 1.2 steals and blocks. Her team, Minnesota Lynx are currently 8-15, 2.5 games out of playoffs.
Fowles (a former LSU star) dunk during a second quarter breakaway opportunity. Fowles was able to press Team Stewart's ball-handler for a turnover and then stole the ball and slammed it in. Team Wilson finished the game with seven point and nine rebounds.
Sue Bird
Sue Bird, a Chicago Bulls defender, has been named co-captain in the WNBA All-Stars. Breanna Stewart and Sylvia Fowles will be joining her, which is their last WNBA season. The game will be played on Sunday, July 10, at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The game will be broadcast on ABC.

Sue Bird was selected to play in the eighth All-Star Game, and Sylvia Fowles for the 13th. Fowles did a breakaway dunk that got the crowd up and dancing during the first part of the game. Sue Bird and Fowles were both recognized after the game and received a standing-ovation.
Arike Ogunbowale
Arike Ogunbowale is a two-time NCAA champ and has been selected for her first WNBA All-Star team. She was named the league's leading scorer last season and is now eighth in points per game for the Dallas Wings. She will likely be an important part in Team USA's preparations of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Chicago will host the WNBA All-Star Game July 9-10. Special events have been added by the WNBA to Saturday's event. These include a skills competition as well as a contest for three points. Ogunbowale hopes he can be part of next year's All-Star games. Team USA had won this game in the past.
Kelsey Plum
Kelsey Plum of the Aces scored 30 points against Team Stewart during her debut WNBA All Star Game. Despite being small in stature, Plum was named the WNBA All Star Game MVP. However, her MVP trophy was dwarfed in comparison to the All-Star MVP trophy of NBA's Kobe Bryant. Cathy Engelbert from the WNBA brought humor to proceedings and presented Plum with a trophy.
Plum stated that she wanted to win the MVP award. She set an All-Star record by scoring 12 field goals and taking 18 shots during the game. She currently averages 19.9 point per game. She will be representing the United States in 3x3 basketball at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Arike Ogunbowale receives the MVP award
Arike Ogunbowale was the MVP of the WNBA all-star game. The Dallas guard played college basketball for Notre Dame. She was the fifth overall selection in the WNBA Draft. Vanessa Bryant, her mother, was a big fan of the player. The award is extra special because her family voted for it.
While the 2021 WNBA all-star game saw many changes, the game remains an all star event. Ogunbowale was the lone WNBA athlete to win MVP honors. Team USA won the matchup by 93 - 85. Ogunbowale is also expected to get an opportunity to repeat the feat in two years, as she was named as a reserve for the 2022 WNBA All-Star Game. The game will be televised live on ABC from Chicago.
