
You've probably seen some of the most famous gymnasts in the entire world. Some are more popular than others. We've already talked about Simone Biles, Larisa Latynina and Elfi Schlegal. These women are amazing. We also discussed their impact on the world. These women are extraordinary and have had a profound impact on the sport and culture of the world.
Simone Biles
Simone Biles' dominance of the world gymnastics is hard to ignore. The 19-time champion in all-around has won more world titles than any other female gymnast. Since the 1970s, she has won more golds than any other U.S.-based gymnast. She has four of her eponymous skills at present, with another likely to be added at Tokyo Olympics.
Nadia Comaneci
Nadia Comaneci, a Romanian gymnast, has made history in gymnastics. She was the first gymnast to score a perfect "10" at an Olympic competition in 1976. Technical limitations prevented her from displaying the expected 10 on the scoreboard. Comaneci achieved six more perfect 10s, and earned the title best gymnast of all time.
Larisa Latynina
Larisa Latynin in sport is a well-known face. She is an avid gymnast who actively participates with her country in its Olympic preparations. She was the torchbearer at the Beijing Winter Olympics 2006 in Beijing.
Elfi Schlegal
Elfi Schlal is one of Canada’s most successful gymnasts. She won a bronze medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games, Edmonton. She was also a three-time All-American. Elfi, who graduated from the University of Utah in 1978, was still a member of Canada's National Gymnastics Team through 1985. Later she was a reporter covering the Olympic women’s gymnastics competitions at both the 1992 Barcelona Olympics as well as the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games and the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
Svetlana Khorkina
Svetlana Kyorkina was conceived in Belgorod on 19 January 1979. She was one her top choices for the 2004 Athens Olympics. Russia took the bronze medal in this team competition. She was part the 1996 and 2000 Russian team, which were top contenders. However, 2004's Russian team didn’t have the same amount talent.
Kohei Uchimura
Kohei Uchimura, one of Japan's top gymnasts. After Uchimura, the only veteran of the Japanese team in gymnastics, the Japanese team was unable to qualify for the Olympic games. Although he finished last in the first competition, Uchimura quickly established a schedule and visualized his techniques using a notebook. After moving to Tokyo, he was selected to be part of the Tokyo national team at the age 17. He was invited to the Olympics in Beijing one year later. In the all-around, he received a silver award. He received seven medals.
