Gina Carano trained in Muay Thai before she began her mixed martial arts professional career. Her professional debut was made in 2006 when she posted a 7-1 record under EliteXC. In 2008, she faced the undefeated Rosi Sexton, and she dominated the fight, winning by knockout in 38 seconds. She was able to fight in Strikeforce's women's championship because of her success in MMA.

Her career in Muay Thai

Although she didn't like martial arts as an infant, she did participate in swimming competitions growing up and then discovered Muay Thai through accident. Joanne was forced into taking a Muay Tha class because her brother was not at school. She was instantly enthralled with the activities. Soon after, she asked her mother for permission to attend the class twice a week, and she began training on her own.

Todd wanted to be a professional kickboxer after she finished a kickboxing program in college. Kickboxing was her choice as there weren't many opportunities for her in her homeland. She enjoyed the challenge offered by Muay Thai and was eventually able to substitute a fighter on a local circuit. Todd has been a participant in some of the largest tournaments in the world. She is determined to compete professionally but she is also very focused on her day job, an aerospace engineer.

Her knockout record in MMA

The knockouts of Gina Carano were numerous and her record of seven wins by stoppage was impressive. Before stepping into the ring, she had competed in Muay Thai and had 14 wins. Her career highest knockout percentage of 94% was impressive. It was also remarkable that her first knockout took three minutes. Carano was an athlete growing up in Las Vegas. She played volleyball, softball and basketball. She did not intend to fight, but her athletic achievements at high school helped her realize her dream.

Carano has a remarkable career KO record. This is not surprising given her smaller competition. She has a record that includes 22 wins and 9 losses. There are also nine knockouts. She fought in both the strawweight and flyweight divisions, and won every fight except one by way of knockout. However, knockouts aren't the only way to win in MMA. Submissions and ground and pound also work.
