Jill Ellis has been an experienced coach for more 20 years. She holds a USSF Pro coaching licensure. She started her coaching career as a young player at Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax. Later, she won the Under-21 Championship and the state championship with her local team, Braddock Road bluebelles. She played college soccer at William and Mary University and was a All-American. Ellis' playing days were in her twenties. However, she earned recognition as a coach.
Ellis has extensive sports management experience, in addition to her many years of coaching. Ellis has held many leadership positions, including that of the Development Director of the United States Soccer Federation. She was also assistant coach to the U.S. women’s team and coached youth women's soccer teams. Ellis was appointed interim head coach for the senior women's team in 2012. She was the interim coach for two matches in 2014. In 2014, Ellis received a USSF Pro coaching licensure.
