Leadership style

Cindy Parlow Cone, the United States Soccer Federation's new president, has been elected. She is the first woman to lead the federation. She was vice president of U.S. football before Carlos Cordeiro's resignation last December. Parlow Cone's leadership style was praised by many inside the organization but also criticised by some within the game.

Parlow Cone's leadership style reflects a willingness to solve difficult problems. Many prominent figures from the US soccer community support her, including Mia Hamm (a former player) who is currently the president of USWNT.

US Soccer and US Lawsuit

Although the USSF has reached a settlement with Cindy Parlow Cone, former MLS player, it has not slowed Cone's enthusiasm. Cone stated that she is focused to grow the game and has signed new CBAs between the USSF and Cindy Parlow Cone.

Cone will take the settlement as a victory for US soccer and use it to justify her continued leadership. US Soccer has also agreed with the players to provide equal working conditions to the women's team until December 2020. But this is only the beginning of the legal fight. Cone's leadership is pushing for settlement of other parts of the lawsuit. The upcoming presidential election might have played a role in her decision.

Equal pay deal with National Team players

Equal pay for women's soccer players is a historic victory for U.S. soccer, which is the first national federation to implement the policy. This policy will ensure women in soccer receive equal pay to men and will pool the prize money earned from both men's & women's tournaments. Cindy Parlow Cone, U.S. Soccer President, was instrumental in this historic decision. Cone won two Olympic golds medals and the 1999 World Cup.

Parlow Cone won election to the presidency of US Soccer in march. Two months later, the women’s and men’s national teams unions ratified new collective bargaining agreements with U.S Soccer. The agreement included an equal split of World Cup bonus money. US Soccer's credibility is being restored and it has secured commercial partners through the agreement. Parlow cone has a lot to do. She attempted to regain her position and Cordeiro's subsequent resignation have provoked criticism from Alan Rothenburg.
