Hope Solo pleads guilty in the case of driving while impaired

Hope Solo, U.S. soccer's star, has pleaded guilty intoxicated driving. The judge in Forsyth County sentenced Solo, aged 23, to suspended sentences, a 30 day active sentence, and a substance abuse assessment. Solo was given credit by the judge for her time in a rehabilitation facility. The sentence includes a $2,500 fine and the obligation to complete a substance abuse assessment.

Hope Solo, a mother of two, has been featured in several news stories following her arrest at the Walmart parking lot near Winston-Salem in North Carolina. The mother of two was charged with driving under the influence and resisting arrest. Along with these charges, she was also accused of misdemeanor abuse child. Hope Solo was found unconscious in the driver's chair by a witness, so officers pulled her over. Solo and her two children, who were both asleep in the backseat, witnessed the incident.

Hope Solo, a former U.S. Women's National Team participant, was removed from the team for 30 consecutive days after being charged with domestic violence. This was the result of an altercation with her half-sister and her 17-year-old nephew. She will be eligible to participate in the USWNT's February match again. This suspension follows reports that Solo was a drinker and intoxicated while driving in a U.S. soccer van.
