The U.S. women's football team has won four golds medals

The U.S. women's soccer team has won four gold medals in a row, including four World Cups and one Olympic tournament. However, the team's greatest triumph was achieved on May 18, when it won the Equal Pay Games and swept Japan, Canada, and France in the semifinals. They are now looking forward to the World Cup next year, where they will be vying for another gold medal.

It's the most successful player in international women’s soccer

For over half a century the United States women’s national team soccer team has dominated women’s soccer. The team won four World Cups, numerous Gold Cups and numerous Olympic medals. Title IX, which prohibits discrimination due to gender in federally funded education institutions, helped it achieve its dominance. The 1999 World Cup triumph was a significant moment for women's sports in the United States. Also, it was the first Olympic gold medal won by a woman's national soccer team.

The Women's World Cup has become an important part of the world's soccer industry, with teams from all over the world participating in major events. In 1991, the tournament took place in Germany. The U.S. program is the most successful in international women's football and led the way. But while the United States has made strides in women's soccer, other countries have lagged behind.

It earns less in NWSL than men

The US women’s team in soccer earns less than the NWSL male counterparts. The league employs 17 players with a USSF full-time contract. Players receive salary no matter what. This includes when they are hurt or need to take parental leave. The league's non-contract members receive only a portion.

The gender pay gap between men and women is not caused by unfair pay. It is due to the structure in the sport and players' pay. U.S. Soccer's salary and bonus programs paid out to women players from 2010-2018 was $34.1 million, while men received $26.4 million. The women's league operates under different collective bargaining agreements. As a consequence, the pay of the women's group is lower than the men's.

It is discriminated in World Cup payments

The US women’s soccer team faces allegations of gender discrimination regarding World Cup payments. The US District Court in California will file suit. The suit claims that USSF is complicit and promoting gender disparate pay. USSF is defending the lawsuit under the banner of equal pay. However it has not commented publicly on details of the case.

A federal judge has denied Equal Pay Act claims by the US women's soccer club. USSF asserts that the Equal Pay Act claims against the women's national soccer team were denied because of the disparity. The team earned $24.5 million over 111 games compared to $18.5 million for men. The team asserts that playing important games on artificial lawn is discrimination against women, but the judge disagrees.
