American mixed martial arts fighter Liz Carmouche has come out as a lesbian. She is currently the Bellator Women’s World Champion in Flyweight and has fought in numerous weight divisions for Bellator as well as the UFC. Velasquez had been previously unbeaten and this victory ends Velasquez’s reign as Bellator flyweight champion.

Liz Carmouche now stands at 4-0 in Bellator's cage after a spectacular victory over Juliana Velasquez, former world champion. Her victory also landed her the Bellator flyweight championship. The Bellator 278 main event saw the win and it was over at 4:47 in Round Four. It was the first time Carmouche had defeated Velasquez. Velasquez was unbeaten in professional MMA.

Liz Carmouche is the daughter of an Air Force pilot. She grew up at Okinawa's military base. Her dad served in the Air Force there, and her mom remarried. She graduated from a Christian school in San Diego. She's now studying at San Diego City College, where she hopes to become a Kinesiologist.
