The Wave lost 2-1 on Sunday to the Kansas City Current. Amirah Ali scored Wave's first goal in 88 minutes. Ali was assisted by Makenzy Doniak. Kansas City won the game in 27 minutes thanks to CeCe Keizer's penalty kick.
Alyssa Mutz has resigned from the league
Alyssa Mauutz announced her retirement from NWSL on Tuesday. The Chicago Red Stars midfielder was a veteran of the league since 2003. She announced her retirement just before Wednesday's match. This move will likely create a void within the league which has had a difficult time with transfer activity in recent years.
