The women's flyweight division is one of the newest in the UFC, and it's growing quickly. The division currently boasts two champions: Nicco Montano & Valentina Shchenko. Montano is Chickasaw-Navajo and Hispanic in descent. She fell in love with MMA at an early age. She is just coming off a submission victory against Joanne Wood and has won four straight.

Shevchenko's impeccable record in UFC

Valentina "Bullet", Shevchenko, is the current UFC women’s flyweight champion. She's 22-3, with six wins and one loss. She is considered one of the world's best Muay Thai fighters, and has beaten four former UFC champions.

Calvillo steps up to fight against higher-ranked rivals

Calvillo was struggling in her three previous fights and decided to challenge higher-ranked competitors. Calvillo started from the 56th%ile on DKFP. She defeated Jessica Andrade and Katlyn Clhookagian before falling to Nina Nunes 3 times in succession. Calvillo may be able to further her MMA career, even though she is not ranked.


Jedrzejczyk's title defence

Joanna Jedrzejczyk is a Polish mixed martial artist. For the past five years, she has been competing in the UFC. Jedrzejczyk began her career in kickboxing. In 2006, she lost her third straight kickboxing match to Valentina Shchenko, former UFC champion. This fight will be her first title defence in the UFC.

Calvillo's Career

UFC records are not good for Cynthia Calvillo. She's currently on a losing streak of three fights and another loss could mean her departure. She's 35 years old, and is one of the top flyweights in the UFC, but her career is not as rosy as her record suggests.

Tracy Cortez started her journey to the UFC in a very young age. She was born and raised in Arizona. She was born to immigrant parents and was the only child in her family. In her earliest years, she was not allowed in the sport of sports. Although she was initially interested in interior design and physical therapy, she eventually became interested in mixed martial arts. The sport has become a significant part of her personal life.
