The Chicago Sky, an American women’s basketball team, is based in Chicago. The team is a part of the Women's National Basketball Association, and competes within the Eastern Conference. The franchise was founded prior to the 2006 season. It was first called the Chicago Mercury. The team is now known as the Chicago Sky.

WNBA drafts

Despite being silent, the Chicago Sky were not present at the most recent WNBA drafts. However, local players were selected as high as the first round. The Dallas Wings selected Veronica Burton as the seventh overall draft pick. She averaged 17.8 points per game, 5.5 boards, 6.4 rebounds, four assists and four steals last season. In fact, she reached double figures in Big Ten tournament. The Phoenix Mercury also drafted Maya Dodson from Notre Dame as a forward.

Trades

The Sky made some moves this offseason to increase their roster. They exchanged several players for draft picks. These moves included the trade of Alaina Coates to Minnesota and the acquisition of Astou Ndour and Kaitlin Lou Samuelson from Dallas. They also traded their 16th draft pick in the 2021 Draft as well as their second-round pick for 2022.

The Chicago Sky, a professional basketball club in the Midwest United States, is known as "The Chicago Sky". Magellan is the team's uniform sponsor. Home games are broadcasted by WCIU-TV, WMEU-CD and WMEU. Some games are televised on ESPN and NBA TV.

The Chicago Sky have released their broadcast schedule for the 2021 season. The team will broadcast five regular season matches on CW26. Lisa Byington provides play-byplay commentary and Meghan McKeown provides color analysis. Five games also will air on My michiana in South Bend.

The Chicago Sky have a vibrant and passionate fan base. They celebrate their achievements and try to make Chicago a better city. Thousands of Sky fan turned out to support the team when they won the 2015 WNBA Championship. This was a wonderful way to foster community spirit and was a heartwarming community celebration.
