There has been much debate about the title for UFC on ABC female champion flyweight. Given the talent of many women in the octagon it is likely that the winner will emerge in the fights yet to come. So which women will make the cut in the octagon? Jessica Penne, Claudia Gadelha, Araya Sage Gomez, Michelle Waterson, and others? Read on to learn more. This article will give details about these women as well as possible opponents.

Claudia Gadelha

Michelle Waterson and Claudia Gadelha have agreed to a main-event matchup at UFC 233 after back-toback defeats. The fight will take place on June 10 in New York City. Waterson will be Waterson’s third main event in the UFC. She is also first Black woman in the UFC to be the main event. Hill and Waterson were reunited at Invicta FC in May.

The ringside judges are split on whether Hill or Waterson is better. Hill is currently the better striker with a two-inch advantage in reach. Waterson, despite not having fought in five-years, is more likely that she will trade in the pocket. Hill will likely win if Hill wins. Waterson's record, however, is impressive. Waterson has won nine of her ten fights by submission and averages 1.68 takesdowns per round.

Jessica Penne

A rematch between former UFC women's champ Michelle Waterson and aspiring star Jessica Penne is highly anticipated for fans of mixed martial arts. Penne called Waterson’s win against her last month a "fluke", while the Canadian veteran said she would fight her again. Waterson claims that the win was not a fluke and wants to prove it.

Earlier this year, Penne fought in an MMA event and lost to Jessica Andrade via TKO in the second round. In the same year, she fought Danielle Taylor at featherweight and lost unanimously. Invicta FC strawweight champion Emily Ducote will challenge Penne in her next fight.

Araya Sage Gomez

Michelle Waterson's next fight is Araya Sage Gomez, if you haven't already heard. The two met at a Hooters in Albuquerque, New Mexico, when Gomez's parents drove up from El Paso for a Cowboys game. Gomez and his family sat down under a large poster of Waterson dressed in a Hooters uniform. Gomez informed his mother that she would be his future wife. They watched as she took her order, laughing. Gomez had her parents be hesitant about approaching her. She never spoke to them.

Michelle Waterson

A former ring girl who made a splash in the MTV/MTV2 reality show "Bully Beatdown," Michelle Waterson has had some interesting career moves. She previously competed in the MTV reality competition "American Ninja Warrior," but was unsuccessful in qualifying. Waterson was a contestant in the stunt competition that Natalie Portman held for her film "Thor" (2014). After a few short months, Waterson transitioned to MMA. Invicta FC Atomweight was her championship. In her first fight as a professional, Waterson submitted Tyra Parker with a rear-naked choke submission. She also competed on "Fight Mom", a MTV reality series, and fought on the "Champions vs. Stars” mini-series.

Waterson beat Marina Rodriguez in the most recent fight. She is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico and trains at Jackson-Wink MMA.
